Nuptse ranks 26th highest in the world. It is in a large range that stretches to the west of Lhotse, south of Everest's South Col. This range boasts four peaks that are 7000m high. "Nup" means "west" and "tse" means "peak: hence the name means "Peak to the West of Everest".
